Carolann Jerkovic

I was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1946 and was one of 4 children, 3 siblings being older brothers. I began writing poetry at age 8 and fell away from it only to find my love for writing again at the ripe old age of 50. I feel my strongest poems are Christian poems or inspirational. I never married but raised 5 foster children whom I love dearly. I hope my contribution to the Inner Circle of Poets will help to further the great charities we support. I am grateful for the honor to be a part of such a wonderful endeavor.

What If Today Was The Day?

What if today was the day God said, “Your test
is over…it is time for you to stand before me,
If you believe there is a God and he DOES
exist…are you ready to face that reality?
Have you spent time with him in any way,
have you been kind to your fellow man?
Did you say, “Lord I enjoy worshipping you everyday,
or…I’ll be with you Lord just as soon as I can.”
Did you help a crippled child, did you give to
the poor or those less fortunate than you?
Did you think to follow even one of his
commands, or instead…break one or two?
Did you remember the horror his son suffered,
out of his love for you and all men on earth?
Have you even tried to comprehend,
how much his sacrifice was worth?
Did you remember the blood that ran from his
body, did you understand why he suffered so?
Did you feel shame for the sins you committed against him? This is what God is going to want to know.
So again…What if today was the day God said, “Your
test is over…it is time for you to stand before me.”
If you believe there is a God and he DOES
exist…are you ready to face that reality?
