Karl Grocock

Hi, I am 35 years old and I live in West Yorkshire, England. My love of poetry was bred into me by my late father who had been writing most of his life, I have recently released a book in his name as a tribute to his life long love of poetry called "A Lyrical Journey Through life" available at www.soulasylumpoetry.com. I feel extremely proud to be able to contribute my work to the Inner Circle of Poets and the charity fund raising they stand for. I hope that what they are doing here becomes extremely successful and continues for many years to come. I hope you enjoy my poem's and as you may notice I still continue under my fathers name of C.H.Grocock.

 

The Future.

I think of the future
of what it may behold,
working out my life
before I get too old.

I'm an average man
the age of twenty three,
what's here tomorrow
if only I could see.

Will I be married
or will I stay free,
will I have children
one, two or three.

Will I achieve wealth
or will I stay poor,
will crowds gather
when I open up the door.

Have I a great purpose
in what we call our life,
will my time on earth
just be filled with strife.

Will I be a scholar
and have a good career.
or will I be a bum
and sit around drinking beer.

Will I lead a healthy life
and work out in a club,
or watch my life fly by
just sitting in the pub.

It's funny what we conjure
when we try to see our lives,
will I just have one true love
or a love that's full of lies.

Maybe it's a good thing
that the future we can't see,
will I reach a fine old age
or die aged thirty three.
