Writing for a Cause!

 We are called

"The Inner Circle of Poets"

We are a non-profit group of poets who have collaborated to raise funds for charitable organizations through writing and publishing poetry books.

Our poets come from around the world such as Canada, Scotland, United States, England, Mexico and Japan to name a few. They have all donated their time and work to the causes that have been nominated and chosen by them to dedicate our poetry to.

Each project has a different selection of poets based who would be most suitable and willing to participate based on life experiences and their dedication to that particular cause.

The Inner Circle of Poets publish the books under the main group name “The
Inner Circle of Poets”
for all mixed projects with a sub heading of either

"The Lady Poets"
or
"The Poetic Knights"

The central core of the group (the committee), met online through a poets workshop and we have become even closer as friends through this group and the work we are doing here, we have supported each other through our individual life experiences and endeavours throughout.

The original idea was to gather together a group of lady poets and write a book of poetry with all the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research (Margaret Hussey was participating in the “Toronto
Weekend To End Breast Cancer” Walk in Canada which is how the original cause came about).

We researched the idea and found out it was possible to do a project of this kind. We called together a total of 25 ladies to participate, and without any effort the number grew to 30. Everyone paid a small amount to cover the cost for a manuscript agent and the copy writing of the book itself, and gave permission to use their poems in our first book. (All our writers retain their own copyright and control of their poems).

Many of our Poets have never been published before and very few have taken courses, we are all just poets who love to write, so this was an exciting journey for all of us.

We had to learn with each stage of the process what would work for us and there were a few delays and hurdles but finally we were ready to go to print.

 Our first book is called

"The Beauty Within"
by “The Inner Circle of Lady Poets”

Published in April 2006 (see Merchandise Page)

The money raised from this book is being donated to
Princess Margaret Hospital for Breast Cancer Research

We realised that one book would never do, so many other poets had come forward offering to be a part of the group and wanting to help out in so many other areas. We decided to carry on and see where this would take us.

This time round it was a much easier and smoother process and we had many poets who felt supporting Autism was a good cause for them to write for, a new character was created especially for this book. “Homer” and everyone wrote a themed poem about his life, the adventures he had, his thoughts and feelings. A book that children and parents could share was the end result.

 Our second book is called

 Hidden Pieces
by “The Inner Circle of Poets”

Due out in July 2006 (see Merchandise Page)

The money raised from this book is being donated to
The
Autism Research Institute

Our books are at this time only available for sale on-line through this site, we are trying to find other ways of selling the books that will still allow us to donate the maximum we can to the charities.

From the revenue created from the sale of each book $6.50 cents will be donated to the charitable organization that the book is supporting.

Any surplus funds at the end of each year will be donate to a charitable organization after consulting with the poets in the group and asking them to nominate smaller charitable causes they would like to see supported.

All our projects mirror the first so that every poet invited to participate will be asked to pay a submission fee of $15 Canadian, this is the same amount each of the original group paid towards manuscripting and the administration costs involved with the publication of the first book.

This way every poet involved has helped the project they are participating in become published.
We have all dedicated our time and words into making the Inner Circle of Poets as successful as we can. Our hope for the future is that poets continue to participate and people will purchase the books that we publish, knowing that we all have put our hearts, energy and time into every book.
